In 2002, NDMC President Derek Drayton
nominated the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution - RABI - as his
chosen charity to benefit from the President's Appeal. During the year
a number of fund-raising event were held as the club attempted to match
2001's record total of over £1700.
We did it ! A new record amount - over
£2100 was presented in February 2003.

RABI provides
ongoing assistance for farmers, farm workers and their dependants
who have had to retire due to age or poor health, with insufficient
financial resources to maintain a reasonable lifestyle. |
| In the wake of the foot-and-mouth outbreak in
2001, many farmers were forced into retirement with little or no savings.
As a club that has always enjoyed a good relationship with the farming
community in North Devon, the NDMC was eager to play its part in helping
the those farmers looking to RABI for support.
