The first Gymkhana event of the year attracted a healthy entry of 24 competitors, including 12 Griffins. Dave Newland had laid out 3 tests, each of which was used 3 times in an attempt to get more test runs in within the time. each competitor was presented with a book detailing the layout of each test and the long queues seen in previous years were avoided!

The surface at Sugworthy was in good condition but the weather was awful! With rain and even sleet at times, blasted by a bitter cold wind, most competitors stayed in their vehicles for much of the time.

With the large number of Griffins, Russ Drayton and Ben Byrom did sterling work and shepherded loads of them through the tests. The highlight of the afternoon was the appearance pf the cameras from Carlton TV, who filmed the event, and even sat in Becky Drayton's Honda and filmed proceedings from the back seat.

All in all, a positive start to the season, despite the terrible weather!
