The Whitsun Treasure Hunt

Seven crews turned up to tackle the 'Whitsun Treasure Hunt' on May 18th. OK, so it was actually a week before the Whitsun Bank Holiday, but it was the best name that we could come up with!

Karen and I decided to try something a little different for this event and so, from our Start venue at Mullacott Cross, the crews were given 2 separate routes to find their way around. The first crew were sent off to tackle 'Route A' first followed by 'Route B', the second crew vice-versa, and so on.

The idea was to avoid a situation that happens regularly on Treasure Hunts, where everyone ends up travelling around together, which defeats the object of the event. In this respect our plan seemed to work very well, and it also allowed us to use to completely separate areas that could not otherwise have been linked together.

At the start, we also imposed a 'curfew time' of 5pm, by which all crews must have returned to the finish. As expected, Dave and Margaret were the last ones back, just beating the deadline, but their time was obviously well spent as they emerged as clear winners, missing just one clue in each section.

Reigning champs, Mike and Sally finished as runners-up, while Steve and Caroline narrowly pipped Mick and Jill for the final 'podium placing'.
