Mike and Dave's 'After Eight Run'
Well, first of all, what a great pleasure it was to see so many entrants and marshals arrive at the Three Pigeons, Bishops Tawton, all with happy faces. We soon put that to rights when the crews heard that it was to be 'plot and bash' all the way!
Fred and Sheila Partridge set all nine crews away fro TC1 heading for lanes behind Codden Hill and Hangmans Hill, all dropping time at John Bartlett's TC2. All were seen working hard at their plotting and off they went again past Cobbaton to Ossie Down and Gale Gerring at TC3. They continued over New Bridge, all taking the correct route past spot height 99, apart from Dave and Chris Tucker who got caught out by the secret check marshalled by Bob France and Lynette Allsopp south of Tawstock. Still, the plotting slowed most crews as they made their way past Uppacott and on to TC4 where Scott Cleverdon eagerly awaited the enthusiastic crews!
By now all seemed to be getting to grips with the plotting and continued past Harracott, Buck Cross and into TC5 where Mick and Jill Hayward handed out the last section of the route to make all the crews think hard again. The only team to be caught out in the last section were father and son Stuart and Mike Wood who missed the secret check marshalled by Nicol Hayward and Sally Jenkinson. All crews made it to the last control where Mike, Dave and Kenny worked out the results whilst everyone made their way to the finish at Hunters Inn, Newton Tracey for well-earned refreshments.
