Gymkhana

Gymkhana at Sugworthy - 16th April

The first gymkhana of the season at Sugworthy saw a few old faces out and a few new competitors. A warm welcome to Jamie Goodreid, Arron Watts and Clair Stevens.
A total of 7 competitors, 4 male and 3 female completed 4 tests twice Test. 1 saw the popular propeller, Test 2 was a new test which included a slalom and some gates,Test 3 was another new test which included gates and a box with reversing and Test 4, another tried and tested test.
The sunshine and cooling wind had dried the field so there was no real advantage of going first and grip remained good for all competitors.
Scott dominated the event setting the fastest time in all of the 8 tests with Nicol gaining all the time as she got to grips with a new car becoming faster and faster as the event progressed, a very credible 1st lady and 2nd overall.

Jason seemed to struggle to match the times of Scott and Nicol as I know he can be quick, maybe he had too many distractions with Clair as passenger! A good 3rd overall.
New comers to gymkhana's , Jamie and Arron were on a steep learning curve but their times were good and not far of the pace, a credible 4th & 5th respectively. They could not stop smiling and seemed to really enjoy the event, look out some young guns coming up through that are going to challenge!
Sophie had to get to grips of driving a car again after the winter lay off and also having to put up with a passenger, that although was the organiser, didn't give the right instructions and who nearly lost it on test 3, oooh the reversing!!!
Clair had a good day considering it was her first event in the championship and the cones could have been blurred as she was recovering from celebrations, her 18th birthday - congratulations.
