Club Championships

This document has been compiled in order to clarify how the Championships work and, hopefully, it will answer any questions that you may have.

The North Devon Motor Club organizes two Championships each year that are designed to reward those who actively promote the Clubs name or who assist in the organization of Club events, these are: Club Championship (which includes PCA and Navigation Exercise Championships) and Marshals Championship. Within both these championships there are various awards for club members to win which are presented at the club’s Annual Awards Evening.

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP OBJECTIVE

To encourage all Club members through their own participation or organization within their favorite motor sporting discipline or disciplines, to further promote and enhance the reputation of the North Devon Motor Club on a local, national or international basis.

FROM WHICH EVENTS WILL POINTS BE AVAILABLE?

You will be able to gain points from all events organised by the NDMC, and from those organised by other Clubs for which a permit has been issued by the Motorsport UK Ltd or ACU Ltd.  These are usually events for which separate regulations have been printed and where your membership of NDMC entitles you to place an entry.  If you have to join the organising Club (or another Club) to take part then points cannot be claimed because you are not promoting NDMC.

WHAT MUST I DO WHEN ENTERING EVENTS TO ENSURE THAT I CAN CLAIM POINTS?

For all events, other than permitted events organised by NDMC, members must have quoted the name of North Devon Motor Club to facilitate acceptance of his/her entry to an event (e.g. when asked on entry forms to declare membership of a Club, enter ‘North Devon Motor Club’).

HOW DO I CLAIM MY POINTS?

There are 2 ways to claim your points.  Firstly you can complete and return a Championship Points claim form, which can be downloaded from our website, for each event where you wish to claim points or you can use the email address – compsec@ndmc.org.uk.  You will need to provide the name and date of your event, class position plus the number of starters in your class and finally the event status which are:-  car events:- Clubmans, Interclub, National, or International, motorcycle events:- Restricted, Open, National, or International.  In addition to this, you should provide your NDMC membership number.

You must claim your points yourself unless you are a member of a rally or trials crew, then you may claim points on behalf of both members.  You must claim your points using the official final results sent from the organising Club (these must be made available at the request of the Competition Secretary).  Points must be claimed within 28 days after the publication of final results for an event, or as soon as the results are available if delayed by the event organizers.  Official results for all NDMC organised events will be taken from the ‘Checkpoint’ magazine.

HOW DOES THE POINTS SCORING SYSTEM WORK?

The points scoring system works by the following system:

1 point for starting an event

2 points for finishing an event

3 points if you win your class

½ point per starter beaten in your class.

Every event has a permit status factor:

Motorsport UK                                                            ACU

            Clubmans                    1                                              Restricted                    1

            Interclub                      2                                              Open                           2

            National                      3                                              National                      3

            International               5                                              International               5

To work out your points all you have to do is:-

1 point for starting, add 2 points if you finish, add ½ a point for every starter beaten in your class and if you win your class add a further 3 points. Then multiply the total by the status factor for that event.

HOW DO I CLAIM POINTS AS AN ORGANISER?

To claim points as an organizer, first you must ensure your name appears in the regulations for the event, or if it is an NDMC Clubmans permit event, your name must appear in the ‘Checkpoint’ calendar. Organisers entitled to claim points are Clerk of the Course, Secretary of the Meeting, Chief Marshal, Entry Secretary and Event Director (if applicable). If any of these roles are split (Joint…) the points will be split. As an organiser you are entitled to 15 points multiplied by the event status.

All organizers of ‘club only’ events will be issued with a pack containing signing on sheets, payment form and results sheet which can be supplied on paper or electronic. The results sheet must be completed and returned with the signing on sheets to the Competition Secretary within 7 days of the event.

Awards are issued to the top 5 places in the Championship.

MARSHALS CHAMPIONSHIP OBJECTIVE

The Marshals Championship is a way of enabling all organizers to say ‘thank you’ for your time and effort in turning out to help run their events, whether they are organised by NDMC or other Clubs.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP?

The Marshals Championship is open to all members of NDMC.

HOW DO I CLAIM POINTS?

To claim your points, you must sign the Officials’ signing-on sheet at each event in which you marshal.  On NDMC events, these forms will be made available by the event organiser who will then be responsible for returning them to the Competition Secretary.  If you are representing NDMC by marshalling on another Club’s event, complete and return a Marshal Championship Points claim form, which can be downloaded from our website, for each event where you wish to claim points or you can send the information to the email address – compsec@ndmc.org.uk. This should then be completed within 28 days of the event so that these points can be included.  Two points will be awarded to each marshal per event.  Awards are issued to the top 3 places in the Championship.
